About Shamanism
Shamanism is spiritual healing; in my opinion it is "wholemaking". It is a visionary practice that is one of the oldest forms of spirituality that we know, dating back tens of thousands of years. Shamanism works with the spiritual realm, and its healing methods are spiritual healing tools.
The word "shaman" or "saman" comes from the Tungus of North Central Asia. It means "he/she who knows", "he who sees in the dark". The shaman is the person who sees what others do not, who finds information from the hidden worlds. The shaman acts as an intermediary between the ordinary world and the world of Spirit.

For those who wish to know more about shamanism, the real gem on this site (in my humble opinion) is the Bibliography and References page I have assembled; here I list all of my reference books, and share with you as many of my useful links as I can round up.
I consider myself to be a regular person working in a healing profession, one part of an enthusiastic and dedicated group of shamanic practitioners and healers in Huntsville who have been drumming and journeying together since 2006. We meet for shamanic drumming and journeywork twice a month to explore our connections with Spirit and our shamanic allies, to engage in shamanic healing, and to explore the shamanic cosmology.
